Rainy Wednesday

It started raining in middle of the night and is still pouring!  We had a leisurely breakfast and have had time to really update our blog.  Our plans for the day have changed slightly and we'll only be riding about 10 miles if the rain moves out mid-morning as predicted. We will begin at Hartsburg and ride to Jefferson City for the long awaited ice cream at Central Dairy.  We'll let you know how the ice cream is...

After checking out the trail at Hartsburg late morning in the rain, the decision was made to play tourists for the day in Jefferson City, Capitol of Missouri.

Test run.

The ice cream was mighty rich, but good.

The rain finally stopped and things started to dry out.  We were able to walk around the capital grounds and admire some of the architecture, followed by a quick trip through the antique mall next to the hotel.

Around 4:30 hardcore Bob and Nancy decided they had to go ride for a little bit, going about six miles toward Columbia on the trail before turning around.  They got a little muddy, but said it wasn't too bad.  The rest stayed at the hotel - Kevin and Cindy did some laundry, Lonnie and Diane both took naps, and Ed and Mary "checked their eyelids for holes from the backside".  Bob and Nancy were still gone when everyone else got hungry and went to eat, but got  back in time to get cleaned up and join the rest for dinner.

We're going to try and get an early start in the morning to beat the next wave of moisture that's headed this way.
